Real Love (a free e-book–just for you!)

Last October I began an online Writing Class called Tribe Writers.  I wrote about it here.

I’ve posted on my Facebook Page–Joyful Mom–in everything give thanks, every time one of my classmates has an e-book!  Today I’d like to share a book written by Anne Peterson.  Anne is not only a wonderful writer–she has a spirit of inspiration, gratitude and joy–that is a blessing to me.

You can find her FREE kindle e-book here.  (but only until tomorrow)

About her book Real Love:

Love. We pursue it our whole lives, needing to know we matter and that we belong. From the moment we’re born, we are placed in families to connect. Sadly some of us never have.

Anne Peterson is a storyteller. Using little anecdotes, photographs, and a few of her poems, she reveals how finding real love changed her life. Tucked in each chapter are truths you will want to hold onto.

This little book will help you realize you are loved and accepted, regardless of what’s happened in your life. And this love is real: guaranteed to last.  If you would like to follow Anne on Facebook click here.

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Lent, already?

I can’t believe that this Wednesday is Ash Wednesday!  How did this happen?  I get it–I really do understand how time keeps marching on but . . . I don’t always feel a sense of accomplishment that comes with time marching on.

I digress.

So these are my Meatless Lenten Meals.

  1. Pasta (or Polenta made in the rice cooker) with Red Sauce with veggies, garlic bread and salad.
  2. Homemade Pizza–I have the kids make their own pizza–that way they get the veggies they enjoy.
  3. Meatless Chili–this is really bean soup–I make it like a traditional chili or use black beans and sweet potatoes.
  4. Breakfast for dinner–French Toast Bake, Quiche, or scrabbled eggs/hashbrowns, pancakes with fruit.
  5. Baked Potato Bar–sour cream, leftover meatless chili, cheese, broccoli, roasted veggies.
  6. Tacos with refried beans, tomatoes, cheese, lettuce with rice.
  7. Macaroni and Cheese in the crockpot.
  8. Soup in a mini bread bowl (roll)–I made my recipe for chicken pot pie and serve it in a roll–it can be from the deli or the frozen type–I’ve used both with success.

Do you eat a meatless meal during Lent?  If you have a favorite could you please share it in the comments?

Be Blessed.

Bare (Five Minute Friday)

Here is my Five Minute Friday–writing with Lisa-Jo Baker at Gypsy Mama.

The Rules:

1. Write for 5 minutes flat for pure unedited love of the written word.
2. Link back here and invite others to join in.
3. Go buck wild with encouragement for the five minuter who linked up before you.

Won’t you give me your best five minutes for the prompt:

Bare….

Go:

When something is bare . . . it is missing something.  Bare legs, bare bottom, bare room, barely there, to bare all–it is in the taking away everything that we see.

The less we burden ourselves with things we don’t want or need the more we are able to spend on things that really matter.

I want to bare my heart and soul to be filled with love and kindness . . .

Stop:

That’s not much writing for  5 minutes!  I’m still not sure that my idea came across clearly–take an old ugly table from the dumpster–you get excited about the “find” then you spend time stripping the paint down to the bare wood–and it is a beautiful functional table.  But you had to work so hard to get it back to where it was in the beginning . . . a metaphor for our lives–we need to strip away the layers of toxic junk to see the true beauty that was always there.

Be Blessed.
