4 Tips for Water Conservation Earth Day 2013

This is a video that my son and I put together for his science project.  Ok, let me rephrase that–I took the video and downloaded a app called Splice.  He did the rest.   This app evidently has lots of sound effects because there were random screams, dogs barking . . . .

I have not laughed so hard in very long time–my kid makes me laugh.  He enjoyed making me laugh–we had a moment.  Which is good because we started this project late–hours before it was due . . . and what could have turned into a struggle turned into something super fun.

The app is so cool–you can splice videos like this, upload them right to youtube.   I can see us using this a lot for homeschool reports . . . maybe the new iPad with a camera in it might be a nice Christmas present . . .

Be Blessed as we take care of our planet.

I’m linking up here.  Disclaimer:  I have a real house–with real clutter!

Jump (Five Minute Friday)

Unscripted. Unedited. Real. Writing for 5 minutes prompted my a single word from Lisa-Jo.  I encourage you to read what “one word” can mean to so many different writers.

Five Minute Friday

Go:

we spend hours on the boat!

I encourage my kids to :

  • just jump!  especially when you have safe arms to catch you
  • just jump!  especially when you have a life jacket on
  • just jump!  especially when you know how deep the water is
  • just jump!  especially when you know it will feel like flying
  • just jump!  especially when few others are doing it.

I need to encourage myself to:

  • just jump! even when I do not have arms to catch me
  • just jump!  even when I do not have a life jacket
  • just jump!  even when I do not know how deep and far the water goes
  • just jump!  even when I feel afraid of flying
  • just jump!  even when I am alone!

I’m still working on my big jump!  In the meanwhile, I’ll be happy with my bunny hops.

Be Blessed as you are prepared for your leap of faith to jump!

Is this White or Dark?

If a white shirt has red trim . . . is it white or dark?  (ok–that is totally made up–I don’t buy any thing in red, first of all AND I do not buy white shirts with trim of any color!)

I dislike laundry.

As my family grow I have had to change how I manage our laundry system.  As the clothes get bigger I need to wash clothes more often–because the hamper get fuller quicker.

These are the ways that I am currently managing our laundry.

  1. A house rule is that clothes are on your body, in a drawer or in the hamper.
  2. I wash athletic clothes separately.
  3. I will ONLY wash a full load of clothes.
  4. I have a lingerie bag for socks–I wash all the socks together–no matter what the color.  I do not sort socks.
  5. Each bedroom has a different collection process–see photos below.
  6. My laundry system has evolved from this post.
  7. I am sure that my laundry management system will continue to change :-)

upcycled tank tops as hanging laundry baskets (also great for diapers)  I have seen this idea using “team” shirts.

I found these at Target and they fit perfectly! Love it when that happens!

I do dislike laundry but I am blessed with little people to wear the clothes, clean water to wash them and hands to fold and pray!  Be Blessed.
