27/31 day of honesty: kitchen hub

I get the mail, stop off at the recycling bin, unload the junk and bring the “important” stuff in.

Then where does it go?

In the old house–Oh, how I’m getting tired of hearing myself say that!  It is like trying to translate slang into another language . . . my old way of doing things is getting lost in the translation.

I love my new house–I’m feeling better as I get each room organized but . . .  areas still need help!

I’ve always wanted a “desk” in the kitchen and this kitchen certainly lends itself to having a desk area–I’m not at that point yet–but I do need a place to get my family organized.  I think I have found my solution!

This picture is a lie–I cleaned before I took it–normally it would have a few toys, library books to go back, maybe a couple of the kids sweatshirts . . . a dumping ground.

So on a typical day I open my blue organizational binder and it is open along with my paperwork for the day . . . or things that need to come and go.

BUT NOW

This is my new way of organizing all that stuff!  I did find a few treasures along the way!  I love finding things . . .

I love this! I purchased it from Ballard Designs and it is perfect–now I have room to make this space an office–except that I would need to stand . . .

I still get to keep all the little things that help make my days brighter along with the necessities of the job.  Next project here is the bill paying center . . . in the move I have lost my letter writing and my bill paying “centers”–

I’m thinking that I’m not the only woman drowning in papers and bit and pieces each day . . . feel free to share your ideas.

Be Blessed.

I’m linking up with Whatever Works Wednesday.

they were wood cupboards but the owners painted them white to sell the house–I would have preferred wood–white shows the dirt and the paint chips off . . . I guess bleach and paint don’t mix!

I’m getting used to the black and white of this kitchen. I do love my curtains–I pinned them on pinterest . . . I’m trying to make my kitchen have a farmhouse feel . . .

I have always wanted a kitchen “office space” too! Yours is much nicer than mine. I just purchased a 3X3 cube shelf from Lowes. It ain’t fancy, but it works!

Hi Again! I’m not sure how this kitchen was designed–the eating area is very small and I thought about ripping out these cabinets to make more room–this area is a counter–I was thinking about taking part of the bottom out so that I could put a computer there but that is a ways off.

I’m not very fancy–I’m sure someone will chime in on that . . . I like the idea of fancy but not the price–how is that for a disclaimer. I’m still working through the ideas on this project.

If you lined the back wall with cork tiles (very affordable), you would have an awsome board to “pin” things on…not that your use of the outlet plates isn’t clever! :0)

I bought those outlet covers because they are a little tiny shelf!! Thanks for noticing! AND funny you should say that Andrea, because I told my friend the same exact thing. I saw some at target that were cork board 12×12 squares in some fun colors–or I could paint them the turquoise that I like . . . I may need to update this post!

I’ve had lots of kitchens and this one by far is the best for counters! My first condo–24 years ago, didn’t have a counter–it had a place to dry dishes and that was it . . .
