DIY Shorts for little boys!

Last week I realized that my son did not have any hand me down shorts!  I’m not sure how exactly this happened until I looked back at pictures of my oldest son the summer he turned 5 . . . he wore pants all summer long–except for swimming.

Once I looked at the pictures it all came back to me!  I had a 5, 3, 1 year old and was pregnant with my now 5 year old!  With all that going on, no wonder I couldn’t remember!  I digress.  The upshot is that my kid doesn’t have any shorts . . .

BUT

he does have pants that are too short but still fit him in the butt!  After a few minutes he has shorts!

Or capris!  You see these pants have a special purpose–when we are on vacation, each night we hike 1/2 mile down a trail and then walk the beach back . . . . his little legs get eaten by mosquitos with shorts on–so with these “beach boy capris” he is able to keep biting bugs at bay and then roll them up when he goes down to the beach.  As any mother knows:  beach + boys = WET.

Of course he made this chocolate milk stain within the first 5 minutes of owning these pants!

I’ll be honest here–I don’t even bother to hem them–they are play pants and who really cares?  I do however hem my oldest sons school shorts (that I make out of cutting his pants!)

Have you ever made your own shorts?  Do you think this is a neat idea or a total waste of time?  Please feel free to share in the comments.

Be Blessed.
