Psalm 25

On vacation things so down and I’m able to see things differently–with a strange clarity and vision.

I walked down the beach and I noticed that my path was not on the straight and narrow nor did I take the most direct path. That is true of my life, not just this particular walk . . .

The shore line seemed to offer three distinct paths. Closest to the water is where I get my feet wet but the sand is packed well enough for easy walking. the middle path is rocky and hurts my feet. Some rocks are sharp and some are smooth. The walking can be tricky as the rocks shift beneath my feet and the third area is the firmest sand but this path is very narrow and often disappears into deep sand and then back again.

This walk on the beach is really a metaphor for my life and my walk with God. Later in the morning at Mass we sung Psalm 25–it speaks to our path, our ways and God as our guide.

Your ways O Lord, make known to me,

teach me your paths.

Guide me in your truth, for you are my God,

and for you I will wait.

Good and upright is the Lord;

he shows us the way.

He guides the meek to justice,

he teaches the humble to follow his ways.

Your way, O Lord,

is kindness to those who are true.

Your friendship is with those who love you;

you reveal to them your Word.

Thank you God, I rest knowing that you guide my way down ALL paths.
