Looks ARE Everything

Looks ARE Everything

It’s not only true about book covers and first impressions BUT food as well.

World Record Holder for Peanut Butter Sandwiches

Well, this might be unofficial, but I am fairly certain that I have made more than the average number of peanut butter sandwiches in my life!  (and I have a good 40 more years of churning out peanut butter sammies for my kids, grand kids and their kids!)  I have two kids who have at least one PB Sammie a day–quick math, that is 730 a year not including the snacks of “fold overs” or warm, toasted English muffins with oozing peanut butter!

I make Boring look Amazing

Part of my job as a Vegan Mom is creating a beautiful plate of veggies and fruits arranged among favorite foods.  I make food look fancy.  When food looks fancy . . . you can’t help but eat it!  This is an example of a typical PJ Sammie being transformed by my culinary artistry.

Food as Art

Take some time and make the boring look fantastic!  Real foods have more colors and textures than you can imagine.  Use that to your advantage–slice and dice in a new way to create beauty–not just dinner.

Think of your kitchen as a food art studio . . .

Food School: a 31 day course (day 18–Food, Inc.)

Last night was the night!

I submitted my video for the Food, Inc Lifestyle Awards.  Which was super hard because the video can only be 2 minutes!  Two minutes!  I can’t say my name in less than 2 minutes.  This is what I came up with:

[youtuber error=’Not a YouTube, Vimeo or Google Video URL: http://youtu.be/q8h_9_fkWeQ’]

In the past few months, several events have occurred bringing me to this point:

  • I don’t want to be part of the problem any more–the problem being the exploitation of people, animals, and the environment.  I believe that everything should be treated with dignity, respect and love.
  • I DO want to be part of the solution
  • I DO want to empower others to make healthy choices
  • I DO want to continue eating a plant based diet–with changing my diet, I am extending compassion to workers, animals and Mother Earth
  • I DO want to increase awareness about food and WRITE about it.  Being aware is your first step to being part of the solution.  Be intentional with every bite!
  • I DO want people to meet me and say–“Whoa, Renee is standing tall in her own truth!”

With that I leave you a picture of the Sunflowers that I harvested the seeds and thought of Moe from the movie Food, Inc.
