Beet Greens

When my friend came over the other day I was explaining to her my vision for a “living” advent wreath.  I want a wreath not made out of evergreens that will just be composted but a wreath made out of plants. I want it to be square to fit on my table better.  I have PVC pipe in my mind.  Maybe some spray paint.

Obviously, this will not happen this year–so I have a full year to work on this idea!

When my friend looked at the plants she became very excited–she told me I could eat them.

Did you know you can eat beet greens?  That you can grow them in your house all winter?  That they are actually really good mixed in with a salad?

Neither did I.  I was just trying to add a little color to my kitchen.  A little homeschool science.

the color is what caught my eye
So I put the beet into water . . . .
the beet with it’s friend the turnip!

Did you know that turtles also enjoy beet greens, spinich and the turnips?  Do you grow something interesting in your kitchen.

Be blessed as we look for creative ways to add color to our lives.
