17/31 days of Honesty: Vision Board

on

Next Monday night I’m talking with some friends about creating a vision board.  A real vision board.  Now don’t get me wrong–I love Pinterest but making your own board that is filled with your dreams is special.

I’m not an expert but I have found a few blogs that have detailed the how-to of a vision board.  This first set is by Renee at FIMBY–Renee was a person that I consulted when I was trying to figure out my “blogging mission statement”.

I also like this blog about finding your purpose.

Oprah and Martha Beck also have a great article about vision boards.

My goal for the evening is encourage my friends to pursue their dreams.  I’m compiling a list of questions to help us identify:

  1. what is your intention?  as a mom, a woman, a wife . . .
  2. how to you see yourself in these roles?
  3. what do you want to change?  keep?  excel?
  4. what do you think about all the time?
  5. what do you do where you completely lose track of time?
  6. passion?  when do you feel it?
  7. what is the thing I love most about myself?
  8. how would others describe me?
  9. what is one thing about myself that I wish that I could change?  then plan to let it go.
  10. what was the time where I was the most happy in my entire life?

I’m sure I’ll think of plenty more before the “vision meeting”–I love that idea–creating a future and believing that we can and will make it happen–on our own terms.

The supplies that I have gathered are magazines of all kinds, pens, markers, fun pencils and card stock–lots of fun card stock.

If you have been following my blog you know that I have been sorting through the basement and the meeting is Monday–my overall vision is to have the basement be an awesome place for play and creative outlets for all of us–but it might take a miracle to have it happen before next Monday.  My back up plan is to use my dining room.

Our dining room is awesome–we recently had the light fixture changed, I painted it to match the kitchen (a light mocha) from a deep cherry (5 gallons of Kilz to cover it), an awesome recycled table that I bought from a wonderful Mom of 5 with her own business (hopefully she will come to the meeting) and a hodgepodge of chairs that give it a provincial feel.  My dining room is almost exactly as I imagined it–on my own board.

I’ll make sure that I post pictures of our boards after the meeting.  If you have created a vision board or have written a post about it–please add it to the comments or share it on my facebook page–I love reading and sharing new ideas!

Be Blessed.
