On Friday’s I join a few other writers for an exercise. Write for 5 minutes on a topic that is given to us–no editing. I confess I do spell check–because I am the worst speller ever!

We all have such similar stories–a high school friend said that this is called 6 degrees of separation–I need to go back and figure it out–but what I think it means is that we are all closer to each other than we think or might like to believe. So here are some pages out of my “book” of life–how many do you share with me?
- I’m a daughter and a mom.
- My mom died when I was 35.
- I have no sisters.
- I am a sister, I have two brothers.
- My dad died when I was 7–I had two stepdads.
- I grew up on a farm.
- I moved out when I was 17.
- I am married to an awesome man.
- I have moved to six states in the last 15 years.
- I love to knit.
- I like to cook.
- I have babies in heaven.
- My home is my sacred place (and my cabin).
- I have a pontoon boat.
- I have had more animals than I can count.
- I put my family and my faith first.
- I have three really good friends–who are completely different from each other.

We all have some of the same pages of one another’s stories. Now that I “get this” I look at women with the eyes of encouragement and tolerance and hope that they will look at me the same way.
Love that take on “story.” Isn’t it often how many times our stories intertwine, I share (sort of) six of your mini stories 1 – mom & daughter, 2 – sister, 3- was married to an awesome man (he’s now in heaven), 4- Family and faith comes first, 5 – Moved out when I was 18, and 6- Three really good friends who are all different from each other . Thanks for sharing. ~ Nita
Be Blessed Nita,
Without that five minute cut off . . . I could have gone on and on . . . :-)
oops, typo. “Amazing” instead of “often”. :)
It’s amazing how much you find that you have in common with others when you list things off! Thanks for sharing these “pages” of your story.
Often times I am so quick to feel different from my fellow “sisters” but really we are all together in this . . . often times it goes unspoken and we are unware that we share the same joys and heartache. It really is amazing!
