ENOUGH Five Minute Friday/Mindful Mothering Mondays

Go:

Enough–stuff.  We have too much stuff.  I have written a few posts on how much stuff we have accumulated in our lives–not just us buying stuff–because to be honest I hate shopping–except for Amazon.com!  We have been given most of our furniture, toys, clothes for the kids–all awesome gifts but still all too much!  We moved a little over a year ago and during that process I figured out that I had too much.  I had trouble getting rid of things I thought I needed.

I need the love of my husband and my kids.  I need food to nourish us.  I need to remember that and put all the other stuff in perspective.

I’m stopping and I have even written for a full 5 minutes.  I feel like I have said “enough”.

Today join us in Mindful Mothering Mondays.  A day to take a deep breath and write out your mothering journey, whatever form it takes.  A day to link up for encouragement from others who are in this same phase of life.  A day of writing out the trials and triumphs and what you’re learning right where you are, right now.

1. Write for 5 minutes flat – no editing, no over thinking, no backtracking.

Mother Teresa from Prayer to Peace

The fruit of silence is prayer;

the fruit of prayer is faith;
the fruit of faith is love;
the fruit of love is service,
the fruit of service is peace.

Blessed Mother Teresa is known for this saying (among thousands more), it was this prayer that she had on a card–her “business” card of sorts.

I  found this saying to be a powerful mantra and it was in my wallet during my 20’s as a reminder of how things should be . . . a couple of decades later I’m ready to embrace the seed that was planted.

I believe that prayer is very powerful.  I believe that prayer is not only words spoken but our actions as well.  I believe that it is hard work to devote your life to God–whether you are a nun or not.

Some days are easier than others.  Some seasons of life it is easier to find time to slow down and quiet ourselves to listen to what God intends for us.  I think that sometimes God is happy knowing that we got that far.

Be blessed on your journey of today.

School Year 2012-2013

I’m leaning more and more towards bringing 2 kids home, 1 in preschool part-time and one in away school . . .

  1. To be able to create a curriculum filled with music and fun games that I know my special kid will enjoy.
  2. To watch that same kid excel in reading using Reading Eggs website.
  3. Spending time with my kids during the day in a relaxed way rather than fitting in a days worth of love and understanding into just a few hours in the evening.
  4. Listening to random concerts–I love when the kids past their instruments and just randomly practice.  Even better is when they try a new instrument.
  5. We are not exactly unschooling but we are not following a schedule like I have in the past . . .
  6. I am excited about using a few new ideas–Life with Fred for math and Five in Row . . .
  7. Being able for the “family swim” at the gym–that is only available during the day.
  8. Time–I’m excited to sort of “STOP THE BUS” and give the kids and I and opportunity to figure out what their interest really are.
  9. Teaching Life Skills not survival skills.
  10. Rebuilding vintage Lego sets.
