A Blank Slate

We have been in our new house for 1 1/2 years–I still have boxes in the basement.  I still have clutter that I’m not sure what to do with . . . someone could use it.

I have these shelves–really nice, heavy, solid wood shelves that I had up in my old dining room and “front room”.  The two rooms were sort of one big room (insert a fancy term here for–it was a sort of drop down on the ceiling, not quite an archway–walls bumped in a little.  Enough of a separation to make the rooms look like two different rooms.) that I had painted different colors with the same kind of textured paint.  The shelves connected the rooms.  I loved the look.

When the realtor came in she said my shelves had to go (along with 90% of the rest of the house)  into storage.  I liked the way the house looked yet I missed seeing my collections on the shelves.

Now we are in decorating mode in this new house.  Desperately trying to figure out what works and what doesn’t and trying to do as much of the work as we can.  But I found a secret weapon–his name is Ken!  He is magical and helps me make my new house, my new home.

In the summer I want to make colored glass jars that I pinned here to add some color and flowers from the garden.  The shelves are high enough that they add visual interest to the second floor as well.

I love the idea of changing the display with the seasons–and recycling when I’m done . . .

Be Blessed as you find time to make your home a sacred space of peace and joy.
