God and the Super Sized Dream

Do you follow Holley Gerth?  She is my friend–but I’ve never met her.  She writes to me on her blog, well, maybe not just me but it seems like it on some days.   Holly has a link up that I have read but not participated in–I mean really–who wants to hear about how I see God working in my life?  But then I realized, it wasn’t really about not thinking anyone wanted to listen . . . it was about my ability to make myself vulnerable.

This is the prompt from Holley:  What’s a typical day in your life like right now? How can you see God’s hand in the middle of the “small” and ordinary too?

The last few weeks have been an evaluation of my intention.  I want to be intentional with my time. I want to create something.  I want to see the beauty in every moment.  I want to make a difference.

My days are filled with breakfast, lunch, dinner, laundry, teaching my children, laughing with my husband . . . I make a difference in their lives–I know I do–but I want to make a difference in another way.

In the quiet of folding the laundry or my 5 minute mini retreat as I walk to the mail box . . . I listen for God.  I wait.  I know he made me for a purpose but what?  when?

For now I will continue to write with the intention of being a blessing to all those I meet.  Maybe that is my purpose?  Are we called to have just one purpose?

Thanks Cheryl–I love the quilts in your picture–I just folded and unfolded the three heirloom quilts that I have–I have them hanging off the railing–a beautiful sound barrier. I so enjoyed your writing–I thought about it again this morning. Your words are still singing in my mind.

      Be Blessed.

vulnerability is huge. My relationship with God is truly very personal, so tough to share, but that is just what we are called to do in the Great Commission.
Thank you for being vulnerable today. Seeing God in the little things is easier to digest than the Big stuff. I think it makes God more real to daily lives.

      Dana,
I feel like I’m vulnerable EVERYDAY–or maybe just tired of trying to hide that I’m perfect. It feels good to “let it go” and attempt to focus on the calling.

      Be Blessed.

I am sure He has an amazing purpose for your life. Perhaps, for right now, He is preparing you~ strengthening? I have my purpose/ calling~ to be a Pastor’s wife… but I am single~~ so knowing is… well a blessing and annoying. Great to know where i’m heading, but wondering how i’ll get there. Will be SO interesting to see what plan He has!!!
Only He can get us from where we are to where He needs us to be!!!

Renee, in addition to caring for your family (a HUGE purpose) I think you are serving your purpose through your blog, sharing encouragement, inspiration, recipes, and joy with your readers. We can never have too much of any of those things! You may never know this side of heaven how you helped someone get through their day. Bless you!

Hi Renee. I love what you said about being vulnerable. Sometimes, we are afraid to read something, because God might just speak to us; and then, we might just feel like there is something we have to do. Anyway, I have felt that way before, especially when I felt I was doing all I could do at the moment. Then again, I used to take everything to heart. If the preacher said something in a sermon, I was checking to see why I wasn’t doing that. I used to feel guilt for things I should never have felt guilt for. Oops! Anyhow, I love that you are listening for God to speak to you. Even though I am ill, sometimes I don’t Listen enough. Thank you for reminding me.
