21/31 days of honesty: not a quiet Sunday

I like to take Sunday off–I only check email in the am when I wake up and right before I to bed–in case of a school related issue.  I don’t answer email.  I do answer a text if it is about something that is happening the next day or from my close friend (we often text because trying to talk on the phone can be tricky and our conversations–are “ongoing”.

Today it was too busy

  • French Toast Bake Breakfast w/bacon
  • 9:30 Mass
  • Home Depot to buy 3 toilets
  • worked in the basement
  • made lunch and ate together
  • the next task was to rake the back yard but my husband wanted to work on the garage because we had to clear out a spot for the toilets!  The garage was on the to-do list for next weekend
  • started dinner (apple pie, roast beef and roasted veggies–homemade gravy that was phenomenal)
  • I went through the rest of the garage–so that project is complete–everything in the garage is something that I will use!  I’m so happy that we were able to get that done.
  • Ate dinner in the dining room–our Sunday tradition–it was awesome with our new light!
  • Folded clothes with my hubby
  • scrub up Sunday for the kids, reading, and bed . . .

It was not the day of rest but I’m getting closer to have a clutter free home.  It felt great to say–“get rid of it” and not feel like part of me was being thrown out too.

My goal is to have the basement cleared out and in great shape by Christmas!  I’m not doing it by myself–I’ve had lots of help from friends–some help I have to pay for but mostly I have friends who are helping me with this journey because they can see how much pain is involved.  Sometimes it is painful for them as well as me!

It has been quite humbling to ask for help.  I am blessed by such great friends.

Does anyone else feel this way?  That asking for help is difficult and brings up so many more emotions that the “thing” that you need help with?  What a crazy cycle of feeling helpless.
