FMF: Honest + Welcome

Today I’m melding a 5 minute Friday with being a 31 dayer (writing for 31 days on one topics)–today’s challenge is Welcome (FMF) and Honesty (31 days).

Go:

Welcome–I think of the song we sing in church “all are welcome, all are welcome, all are welcome in this place.  But me being, well, Me–I get it wrong and always sing space rather than place.

It makes more sense to me that all are welcome in my space.  I love stray animals–I create outdoor homes for them, chase hungry looking dogs with cans of food (and after witnessing this my husband still married me–but had a better idea of the crazy that he was getting into . . .) currently I”m bummed that a stray dog named Waffles decided not to make our house his home.  But there will be more . . . and when they come I will welcome them.

But what about people?  Do I welcome all people in my space?  The ones who are on a work program–at the grocery store–when I need to get out “fast” and their fast and my warp speed are not the same.  Or the dirty lady–it is not that she doesn’t care–it is that she does not have the same opportunity that I have each morning to take a hot shower.

(one minute warning)

I would say yes–I am welcoming to almost everyone in my space but I would not be HONEST if I said that everyone can come in–it is easy to welcome the stranger or the animal but it is much more difficult for me to welcome back those that have hurt me.

    LOVE your 31 day theme and this post…honesty is amazing and so is taking a look at our hearts and the level we ‘welcome’. {abby, the post right after you at fmf}

      thanks–the honesty theme sort of picked me! How much do we welcome? I think what works for each of us is different at different times . . . I know that I don’t get upset if I have people drop by the house . . . no matter what it looks like–it changes every 5 minutes anyway–I figure they will come back and it might be cleaner or more of a disaster. On the other hand I know some people who won’t allow anyone to come unless it is scheduled. We are all so different–and I love that.

      Be Blessed.
